THROWBACK THURSDAY: Eps 35 with Dr. Jen O’Ryan
Thursday Throwback!
This week we are revisiting Episode 35. This show originally came out in March of 2016. Offers and products mentioned during the show are likely outdated.
Enjoy!
Dr. Jen O’Ryan provides guidance for parents to help them navigate their child’s coming out process, as well as questions about sexuality and gender. She completed her doctorate in Human Behavior with a focus on environmental factors during childhood and adolescence for sexual minorities.
Dr. Jen also works closely with other caring adults on developing more inclusive, safe spaces for LGBTQ individuals in the workplace and community. Through years of research and advocacy, Jen brings an extensive background on factors contributing to healthy development during childhood and adolescence for LGBTQ youth.
Jen and I talk about the experience kids are having as they come to understand gender and sexual orientation. We discuss the biggest challenges for the kids and their parents, and how we can all be a part in supporting all kids, in celebration of differences, being advocates and allies.

Mental Health Mini Summit
Parenting teenagers is hard work!
The Adolescent Mental Health Summit brings top experts to one place for supporting parents with the nuances of their teen’s mental health.
The topics covered in this mini summit are hard to talk about. Parents with teens that are going through mental health challenges often feel very alone and ashamed. My goal is to shine a light on these topics in a way that allows parents to feel more capable and informed – and to allow all parents to recognize there is no shame here, simply children that are doing the best they can with the tools they have.
The Adolescent Mental Health Mini Summit provides valuable information for parents around learning challenges, eating disorders, self harm, anxiety, depression, and more.
