Getting a Handle on Screens

Working WITH your teens and their screens

Every parent is struggling with how to help their teen have a healthy relationship with screens. Every. Parent. Not only does it feel impossible to keep up and stay ahead of what our kids are being exposed to, communicating about screen use and misuse often results in blowouts or shutdowns. What can we do?

In this interactive power workshop, parents will learn how to normalize conversations of screen use, the power of mentoring instead of monitoring their teens, and what it looks like to collaborate on limits that keep kids safe. Participants will be encouraged to share what is most challenging for them, as well as where to go for more resources.

Date: Tuesday, March 18, 2025
Time: 4pm – 6pm PT | 7pm – 9pm ET
Cost: $129

Relationship Reset with your Teens

When it feels like you’ve lost your teen…

The experience of feeling disconnected to your teen is real and painful for so many parents of teens. Closed doors, one word answers, and hostility can make the household energy unbearable for all. You may feel ike you are walking on eggshells and out of ideas for how to connect.

During this interactive power workshop, participants will strengthen their understanding of teen brain development, learn tools for shifting the dynamic you are currently in with your adolescent, and communicate in a way that leaves everyone – you and your teen – feeling seen, heard and understood.

“You are a true gem! You’re authentic and real, warm and encouraging… You’re incredibly knowledgeable but do not “talk at” us. You create a mentor-type vibe which feels very safe, allowing participants to open up and grow. Thank you!” – Lori Kidd, parent

Managing the Mischief

Boundaries, systems and agreements to keep our teens safe

Parents know that the teen years also come with a certain amount of risk taking. Teens experiment with substances, sneak around, and get into trouble. Finding out YOU teen is getting into mischief can feel like the roof is caving in. It can feel both scary and infuriating – and how we respond matters.

In this power workshop, parents will learn how to be the confident authority in the household, how to collaborate with their teens in a way that develops their critical thinking, self-reflection, and decision-making skills, and tools for being ever more intentional with how we are responding when our kids get into mischief.

“I want you to absorb when I tell you how good you are—so present, and so real—so responsive to what is happening at the moment.” – Dr. Jane Nelsen, author of Positive Discipline

Parenting Teens with Positive Discipline 6 Week Class

Parenting teens with Positive Discipline is for parents of adolescents who are looking for deeper understanding of the challenges they are facing, how they may be contributing to the challenges, and tools and strategies for problem solving. Most importantly, this community is about experiencing more joy on the parenting journey.

We keep it very real – no topic is off limits. Participants are willing to get vulnerable and share about their challenges. The space created in these workshops is confidential, safe and supportive. The content centers on how to BE WITH the rough terrain of the tween and teen years, while centering the relationship we have with our kids and meeting them where they’re at – with acceptance and curiosity.

Join so many other parents in finding their Joyful Courage as we walk the sometime mild, sometimes wild parenting path. No matter the season of parenting you are in today, these workshops are designed to give you what you need to be the parent you want to be.

Kids don’t come with an instruction manual.

Wouldn’t it be so nice if they did?

We buy the books, read the blogs, listen to the podcasts and consume the content, looking for answers and the elusive formula that is going to help us with this wild ride of parenting…

And sometimes it isn’t enough.

The experts all tell you that they have the process, the 4 steps, that they hold the secret to a happy, easy-breezy family life.

What we need more of are community spaces that allow us to share and be held in the experience we are having. These workshops offer that and so much more. Parents get to step into their teens shows, learn how to get under the surface of behavior, and create and the encouraging environment their young people need during this time of their life.

What you don’t often hear is that parenting is WORK. That there are NO easy answers. There are ages and stages, yes, but each family has their own unique dynamic, and each parent comes with their own flavor of experience and beliefs that inform them as they move through the parenting journey. Thiese workshops exist to support YOU in recognizing and designing the dynamic that works for YOUR family.

Positive Discipline

Dr. Jane Nelsen’s Positive Discipline parent education is based on the theories of psychologists Alfred Adler and Rudolf Dreikurs. Positive Discipline helps your child feel a sense of significance and belonging through learning important life skills of empowerment, self-reliance and cooperation. This parenting style encourages kindness and firmness at the same time.

Kindness is the way we interact and connect with our children, honoring their dignity and respecting their needs.

Firmness is the way we respect ourselves and the needs of the situation, as well as following through with what we say we are going to do.
